As we gather with family and friends to give thanks this year, it is also a time to reflect and give thanks for those that have served and continue to serve our country, veterans and their families.
At Dixon Center for Military and Veterans Services, we are also thankful for our partners, who without their support, our work would not be possible. Whether it's Work with Purpose, Healing with Honor, or Living with Hope, our supporters are transforming the lives of veterans and their families. Their impact is profoundly felt in our Women Veterans Program—a program that recognizes the unique obstacles that women veterans face and creates the conditions that allow our women veterans to thrive.
Recently, we have assisted 56 women veterans with our grants for a total amount of $67,000.00. This is only what we have given out in grants, we have also assisted in connecting women veterans with other resources and organizations that can help them with other things such as budgeting, finding food assistance, and more. Our program is small, but it is nation-wide and open to all ages of women veterans. This year alone we have assisted veterans from 21 years old to 61 years old.
