Activities in August

The Center’s Team at the ESGH-TV+FA Convening in Houston
In August, our team at the Center for Military and Veterans Services traveled to Georgia and Texas for important gatherings of leaders, organizations, and partners working every day alongside veterans and their families.
In Columbus, GA, we participated in the Department of Veterans Affairs’ VetResources Community Network (VRCN) Annual Convening, joining more than 100 veteran-serving organizations from across the country. A few weeks later, we were in Savannah for the National Association of State Directors of Veterans Affairs (NASDVA) Annual Training Conference, continuing conversations with state veterans affairs leaders, federal partners, and organizations working in communities nationwide. We concluded by leading the Easterseals Greater Houston (ESGH) Texas Veteran + Family Alliance 2026 Convening.

These engagements gave us another opportunity to listen, learn, exchange ideas, and strengthen relationships. Here are a few examples:
- Serving those who support and serve veterans. At the VRCN Convening, we connected with organizations working on issues ranging from military transition and employment to healthcare access, homelessness prevention, and suicide prevention.
- Engaging with leaders responsible for veteran services across the country. At NASDVA, we continued building relationships with state directors, their teams, federal partners, and others working to improve services and support within their states and communities.
- Advocating by bringing community experience and practical solutions into conversations about the challenges facing veterans and their families. At the ESGH 2026 Convening, we brought partners together around shared issues, introducing ideas and evidence to strengthen their work and moving from individual organizational efforts toward a more coordinated community response..
- And so much more. From Columbus to Savannah to Houston, we strengthened existing partnerships, developed new connections, and identified opportunities for continued collaboration that will impact veterans and their families across the country.
