Creating a Beacon in Boston

At Dixon Center for Military and Veterans Services we believe that organizations do not need to create new programs to support veterans and those touched by military service but simply adapt their existing programs to be welcoming and receptive to those who have served.

This is most relevant in our work as a member of The Fedcap Group, a global network of top-tier nonprofit agencies. Our common missions dovetail in the vision of economic empowerment, workforce development, education, and wellness. Through our partnership, we are shining a national spotlight on the issues facing veterans and their families – mobilizing resources and expertise to modernize solutions.

To this end, we work across the Fedcap Group of companies to help make integration possible. For example, our collaboration with another subsidiary, Community Work Services (CWS) in Boston. Leveraging Dixon Center’s expertise and experience, CWS is placing a special emphasis on integrating women veterans and the spouses of veterans, a growing and underserved population.

Dixon Center is making women veterans financial wellness a priority. As part of our focus on housing and preventing homelessness, and recognizing the unique challenges that women veterans face, we connect women veterans to potential sources of emergency financial assistance to assist with expenses associated with housing and employment. During the first six months of 2021 we have provided or are currently working on emergency financial assistance to 20 women veterans totaling about $25,500.00 in assistance.
