Donors Are Committed to Our Mission

“Our diverse group of donors stepped up in 2023 and enabled our noble purpose.”– Vanessa Stergios,Dixon Center Director of Development

2023 is in the rearview mirror. As 2024 begins, let’s look at who supported us and how we allocated those resources in our work at Dixon Center for Military and Veterans Services in 2023. Since 2012 more than 2,340 donors who have given to Dixon Center for Military and Veterans Services have made the lives of veterans and their families better. In 2023, nearly 140 donors didn’t just make an investment, they had an impact with more than 240 donations. These donations include gifts from individuals, major donors, family foundations and corporations. Many individual donations include recurring monthly donors who spread their gifts out over the year and had some of the greatest impact.

We allocated these resources to our work aligned to our three pillars.  Our most significant growth was in the pillar “Heal with Honor”, followed by “Work with Purpose” and “Live with Hope” respectively. We anticipate this trend to continue and ask that you keep this in mind as you plan for your charitable giving in 2024.  Help us get off to a great start in 2024 by donating now.

Dixon Center for Military and Veterans Services is a member of The Fedcap Group, a global network of top-tier nonprofit agencies. End of Year Giving 2023

“Donate Today! Your donation makes a difference in the lives of veterans and military families.” – Colonel Duncan Milne, USMC (ret.) President, Dixon Cener for Military and Veterans Services

As you consider your end of year giving, please include Dixon Center for Military and Veterans Services.  With the end of 2023 fast approaching, we at Dixon Center for Military and Veterans Services would like to share some tips to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our veterans and military families with your year-end giving.

  • Donate stock instead of cash to Dixon Center for Military and Veterans Services as a tax-smart act. When you donate stock or other appreciated securities you have owned for longer than a year, you can be exempt from paying capital gains tax. Plus, you may be able to receive a tax deduction for the full fair market value of the donation up to the full amount allowed by the IRS.
  • Open a Donor Advised Fund and receive an immediate tax deduction and have the flexibility to give back to nonprofits when the time is right for you. Your fund can also grow tax-free through wise investing, allowing you to give more as your fund grows. Donor Advised Funds are easy to create, tax-deductible and have minimal start-up costs.
  • Make a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from your IRA directly to Dixon Center for Military and Veterans Services tax-free.
  • Make an Honorary or Tribute gift – recognize someone extraordinary in your life, through a tribute gift to Dixon Center for Military and Veterans Services.

Veterans Day 2023

Veterans Day 2023

I do hereby call upon all of our citizens to observe, November 11, as Veterans Day. On that day let us solemnly remember the sacrifices of all those who fought so valiantly, on the seas, in the air, and on foreign shores, to preserve our heritage of freedom.”

– President Eisenhower, in his proclamation establishing November 11, Veterans’ Day, October 8, 1954

On this Veterans Day, we, at Dixon Center for Military and Veterans Services, ask that you make this a day of outreach and conversation. Find a celebration or ceremony in your local community, where you can connect with veterans and their families (click here, for events in your state). Reach out to veterans you work with and veterans among your family and friends and go beyond “thanking them for their service.” Ask them to share their story of service and engage them in conversation and continue these conversations long after Veterans Day is over.Watch a short video to learn how Dixon Center for Military and Veterans Services is making the lives of veterans and their families better.

Get Out and Vote

Get Out and Vote

“The future of this republic is in the hands of the American voter.”– Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1949

At Dixon Center for Military and Veterans Services we look forward to exercising our right to vote, our duty to vote, and our support and encouragement to others who may think that their vote doesn’t matter.  It does! Our team continues spending time on equitable and just policies. Specifically, advocating and developing veteran wellness policies at the national, state and local levels. These efforts focusing on policies relative to affordable housing, physical, emotional & social wellness, as well as economic opportunities will be less effective without the right support by elected officials. November 7th is quickly approaching. Get out in your community and vote.
